Samuele Ricci was an Italian Baroque painter, born in Lucca in 1606 and died in Florence in 1682. He was a pupil of Pietro Paolini and he worked mainly in Florence, where he became a prominent figure in the artistic scene of his time.
Ricci was known for his religious paintings, portraits, and mythological scenes, characterized by a rich use of color and dramatic lighting. His style was influenced by the works of Caravaggio and Guido Reni, and he was considered one of the leading painters of the Florentine Baroque school.
Some of his most famous works include "The Martyrdom of Saint Lawrence" in the church of San Lorenzo in Florence, and "The Journey of the Magi" in the Uffizi Gallery. Ricci's work is highly prized by collectors and art enthusiasts for its emotional intensity and exquisite detailing.
